The Fushimi Inari Taisha, or the Fox Temple in Kyoto, is an extremely popular place. You will see hundreds of people visiting this place everyday. But if you get your timing right, you are greeted with a quiet and peaceful sojourn that gives you a real feel of the mysticism of the place. With a large structure at the base of the mountain, and thousands of torii gates leading the way to the top of the mountain, it is indeed a scenic walk. At intervals are smaller shrines and hundreds of Inari fox statues, and ocassional views of Kyoto city.
