Busker at the Chiang Mai market

Saw this young lady playing beautifully in hte middle of a crowded market
Chiang Mai does not conform to the idea many people have of a touristy location in Thailand. There are no beaches, the temperature is pleasant/cold, and you have the option to have a quiet holiday in the hills. The main town of Chiang Mai is a walled enclosure, comprising a main street, and several temples and other attractions. However, I would recommend you stay right outside the walls, enabling you easy access to the main city, while avoiding the slightly crowded streets.
While you will see a bazaar set up every evening, I would recommend you make time to walk around the weekly Sunday night market. Spanning the entire length of the main road starting from Tha Pae gate, you can choose to splurge on the variety of goods available for sale (cheap), fill up your tummy with the good street food, or just enjoy the colourful sights for a while. There are quite a few artists along the street trying to make a little money, but this young lady caught my attention - she was standing in the middle of the busy street, quite oblivious to the maddening crowd around her. I did come to know later she was a student busking on the side to support her expenses.
