| Caught in a moment (in the X-Mas chaos) on Orchard Road, Singapore |
Christmas is always a big affair in Singapore. Come to think of it, every festival is. There is an earnest attempt to milk every event for as much material gain possible. Orchard Road in Singapore is a prime example; come November, and the entire stretch of road is decorated, and every shopping mall adds its own decorations to the mix. Buskers are encouraged to perform along the stretch and thousands of visitors make it a sort of family excursion. While the overall mood and ambience is indeed festive and merry, it is also at times unnerving.
I took this photo while waiting to cross a busy intersection on Orchard road. I like to think that I can imagine what this couple might be feeling at the moment. She looks on in awe, while being a little frightened as well, while he holds her hand in reassurance, even though he is a bit unsure himself. I like to think that I managed to captured a moment - in the middle of the chaos that is Orchard Road before Christmas.
