Managing a bar in Patong is tough business. There are scores of near-identical bars, each with the same menu of drinks, identical prices, and a bevy of semi-attractive ladies either pole-dancing lazily, or offering to play board/dice games with you. The larger bars offer live entertainment, with bands belting out cover songs at near-uncomfortable volumes. The onus of drawing customers in lies on these ladies, who need to stand out on the road, with placards advertising low prices of beers and bundle/bucket offers. This young lady started early in the evening, with the sun still out, trying to draw in the crowds heading back from the beach.
